Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday February 7th 2005
Tiffany wiped the tears from her cheeks as she walked towards the front door of her apartment. "Who is it?" she called out after hearing another tap on the door.
"It's me," her sister Starlene called out.
"Hi Starlene," she said opening the door.
"I hope you aren't busy?" Starlene asked as she walked in and Tiffany closed the door behind her.
"No, just busy being depressed over being stuck with a stripper for a roommate that thinks I ruined her whole life," Tiffany said as the two sister's took a seat on the sofa.
"So Deanna's giving you a hard time over calling the cops about the money?" Starlene asked referring to the box of money Tiffany found in Deanna's closet. It turned out Deanna had inherited a lot of money if she kept the name of her newfound family a secret. After the police became involved Deanna lost her fortune and family.
"Oh yeah. Everyone including Skeeter is blaming me for this," Tiffany said shaking her head.
"It will all die down," Starlene said.
"I don't think so."
"Have you thought about asking Deanna to move out?"
"It's really hard to do that now that I messed up her inheritance."
"Yeah, and you aren't working either," Starlene said referring to the fact Tiffany is unemployed.
"I wish I'd find a job."
"I wish I'd find out what's going on with my Stanley and his money," Starlene said shaking her head.
"What's the matter Starlene?"
"I'm just kinda worried. You know Stanley bought that townhouse in Georgetown. I opened the papers from the realtor and found out he put it in Jan's name," she said referring to her wealthy husband's daughter.
"Yeah, so has anything else happened to make you worried?"
"He mentioned the other day that he might buy some property upstate."
"Oh," Tiffany muttered as she listened with interest.
"I said 'great Stan, we'll have somewhere to go on weekends.' Then he said he thought he would be giving it to Jan," she said frowning as she referred to his older daughter.
"Gee. I can see how you might be worried. I mean do you think he's giving her all of his money?" Tiffany asked.
"I don't know. I just know she hates me so much. I know she would love to see me not get anything when he dies."
"Have you seen his will?"
"No. He has it locked up in a safe deposit box."
"Maybe you could tell him you want to read it?"
"I did. He said I didn't have a head for these things. He said he'd take care of the finances and for me not to worry."
"But you are worried?"
"Of course Tiffany."
"But Starlene, you didn't marry Stanley for his money did you?"
"Well, not exactly," she said grimacing.
"Well, did you or not?"
"Well, he is older Tiffany. I don't know."
"Would you have married him if he didn't have any money?"
