Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday June 25th 2004
"Tiffany it's me", Starlene called out as she opened the door to her sister's dimly lit apartment overlooking Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village.
"Skeeter, Starlene's home," Tiffany whispered as she quickly sat up on the sofa and pulled her sweater down in the front.
"Every time," Skeeter mumbled as he sat up running his fingers through his thick dark hair.
"Hi honey," Tiffany said as she turned on the lamp on the table beside the sofa.
"Oh did I interrupt you guys again?" Starlene asked as she walked into the living room and took a seat in the chair.
"No we were just talking," Tiffany lied.
"I have some good news," Starlene said smiling broadly.
"What?" Tiffany asked.
"Stanley and I are made up," she said.
"Great. That's wonderful honey," Tiffany said as she watched Skeeter nod his head in approval.
"I think this time it will be better. We went through everything and everybody that has come between us. He's promised me he won't see Lola anymore. He swears he hasn't been talking to Nicole either," she said referring to Tiffany's bosses' wife.
"I sure hope not. You know Nicole's Father might have him killed," Tiffany said referring to the fact that Nicole's father is a mob boss in Florida and has warned Stanley to leave his young daughter alone.
"So what's the big news?" Skeeter asked picking up his beer can from the coffee table and taking a long sip.
"Well, I might be moving back into his mansion," Starlene said.
"Oh Starlene... that's wonderful!" Tiffany said.
"Yeah, I knew you would be happy. I mean this apartment is kind of tight," Starlene said as she glanced around the tiny living room.
"What about the wedding?" Skeeter asked.
"Well, we talked about that too. He says that since so much has happened… I mean we've both cheated some. We need a little time together again to be sure," she said repeating Stanley's words.
"Sounds like another stall tactic to me," Skeeter mumbled as he put his beer can on the coffee table.
"I don't think so. It's fair. I mean I did cheat with Marco and he knows it. That really hurt Stanley. I have to give him time to trust me again. At least I'll be there to be sure that Lola doesn't come over when I'm not around," she said referring to Stanley's older celebrity girlfriend.
"That's good honey," Tiffany said thinking about the privacy she would have now.
"So I'll probably just pack up some things and move over there tomorrow," she said.
"That soon?" Tiffany said.
"The sooner the better. I've got my wedding gown. I want to get married before it goes out of style," she said referring to the gown she bought just before the wedding was canceled.
"That's great," Skeeter said. "I've got some big news too," he said as he got up from the sofa and walked towards the kitchen to get another beer.
"What's your news Skeeter?" Starlene asked glancing at Tiffany and seeing a blush on her face.
Skeeter walked back into the living room as he popped the top on the can. "I'm going to be a rich man thanks to Stanley's daughter," he said grinning.
"What do you mean?" Starlene asked.
"I'm almost divorced and wealthy," he said taking a seat beside Tiffany.
"Is this for real?" Starlene asked.
"That's what he says," Tiffany said.
"So does this mean you guys are getting married again?" Starlene asked.
"Whoa! One thing at a time," Skeeter said as he lit a cigarette and blew a smoke circle.
"Tiffany?" Starlene asked raising her eyebrows gesturing for a clue.
"We'll see," Tiffany said shrugging her shoulders.
"Well, I'll be," Starlene said in her southern accent.
