Starlene closed the front door of the apartment and turned towards her sister Tiffany.  "That scared me to death," she said as she walked towards Tiffany to hand her the sheet of paper the woman had given her.  "I thought that woman might have been Marco's wife and she had found out about me seeing him," she said referring to their married neighbor that Starlene had become involved with before she realized he had a wife that lived in California part time.
"That's all the more reason for you to stop seeing him Starlene!" Tiffany said relieved as she glanced at the paper her sister handed her regarding new recycling rules in the building.
"I plan to stop seeing Marco as soon as he gets me the job at the TV station," Starlene said defiantly.
"It might be too late when and if that happens.  How do you know that the next time a woman knocks on our door that it won't be his wife?  She might find out about the two of you," Tiffany said.
"I am not at fault here.  He started this without telling me he's married. It's because of him that Stanley called off our wedding.  I can't lose everything," Starlene said as she stood in front of the mirror in the living room applying more lip-gloss as she prepared to leave on her date with Stanley.
"I just think you are going to have to make a decision and quit seeing Marco. His wife might find out and then she'll be knocking on our door," Tiffany said as she watched Starlene pull the front of her low cut dress down to reveal more cleavage.
"I'm not going to let that happen.  You'll see.  I just have to play my cards right.  I want either Stanley to marry me or for Marco to get me the job as a hostess on the new TV show "Blonde World," she said walking towards the living room window to look out. "There's Stanley's limo now," she said walking back to the table near the sofa.  She picked up her purse and glanced towards her sister. "Wish me luck," she said as Tiffany sat on the sofa watching.
"Of course I wish you luck honey.  I think Stanley really loves you Starlene.  It's just too bad his friend had to see you at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel with Marco.  I think he was ready to marry you," Tiffany said.
"Well, if he was that ready then why did we see him the other day with Lola Rogers?" Starlene asked as she felt a sudden rush of anger remembering the scene.
"Oh they were probably just looking at jewelry for some innocent reason," Tiffany said recalling how they had spotted the two together outside the window of a jewelry store.
"We'll see.  He better have a good explanation. Well, I'm out of here," she said opening the door of the apartment to walk out into the hallway.
"Hey Baby," Skeeter said as he walked up the stairs towards his apartment next door.
"Hi Skeeter," Starlene said as Tiffany sat on the sofa listening as her ex-husband walked towards his apartment next door.
"What are you doing all dressed up like a centerfold," Skeeter asked eyeing Starlene's voluptuous bosom in the low cut little black dress.
"Tonight is the night for Stanley.  Tiffany and I saw him with Lola Rogers on the Upper West Side the other day.  They were looking at jewelry in a window," Starlene said as Skeeter unlocked his door with the key.
"Yeah, you better watch out Starlene.  Lola is a
real hot number.  She's the right age for Stanley and she's loaded just like he is," Skeeter said unaware that Tiffany was headed towards her front door and listening to every word he said.
"I guess you would know too, wouldn't you?" Starlene said referring to the fact that he had an affair with Lola not long ago.
"I know her well. She's a hot blooded woman," he said. "What Lola wants Lola gets," he said pushing his front door open.
"Did she want you Skeeter?" Starlene asked smiling referring to his well-known status of playboy.
"Yeah, but she wasn't enough woman to hold me Baby," he said grinning as he turned to look at her.  His smile faded when he saw Tiffany enter the doorway of her apartment frowning.
