"As we graze it grows"

2 cans (8 ounces each) minced clams
1/2 cup salad oil
1 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
2 large fresh garlic cloves, minced
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
3/4 cup dry white wine
3/4 cup chicken broth or bouillon
1/2 teaspoon oregano, crushed
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
Pepper to taste
1 pound spaghetti
2 tablespoons salt
4 to 6 quarts of boiling water

Drain juice from clams, reserving 1/2 cup juice.  Set juice and clams aside.  Heat oil in large skillet.  Add onion and garlic; sauté until tender, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in butter, wine, chicken broth, oregano and saved clam juice;  simmer sauce uncovered, 20 minutes. Add drained clams to sauce and heat gently. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup grated cheese and pepper.  Meanwhile, gradually add spaghetti and salt to rapidly boiling water so that water continues to boil.  Cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally until tender. Drain in colander.  Serve spaghetti with sauce and remaining grated cheese. Spaghetti with Clam Sauce serves 8.
