Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday December 8th 2003
Tiffany watched as Clark walked towards her desk in the townhouse where she worked.
"Mornin' Tiffany," he said as he turned on the TV.
"Hi Clark," she said. She watched him take a seat in the chair in front of her desk.
"Did you see Nicole being interviewed on TV at Skeeter's new store?" he asked referring to his wife.
"Yes, I saw her," she said still resentful that he had asked her to be interviewed and when she refused he sent his wife Nicole.
"Didn't she look great in that mink coat?" he said thinking about the long white mink she was wearing over the short leather skirt.
"She looked nice."
"I hope they'll show the interview again on TV," he said glancing at the TV screen and the morning news.
"I think Skeeter's gotten all of the publicity he needs for that dumb store."
"I got two or three calls yesterday afternoon from people wanting to book parties. It really worked for Nicole to do that interview."
"Great," she said looking down at the papers on her desk refusing to show interest in her ex-husband's lingerie store.
"You know what else?"
"What?" she asked never looking up.
"Yesterday afternoon Nicole said she got a call from a modeling agency," he said with pride in his voice.
"You're kidding?" Tiffany said looking straight into his eyes.
"No. She said they asked her to send in pictures," he said smiling broadly.
"Well I guess she's all excited?" Tiffany asked wondering if there was any truth to Nicole's claims.
"Yeah, you know your sister Starlene might have started something," he said referring to the fact that Starlene had posed in the lingerie ads. Afterwards, she went on to be featured in Playbody Magazine.
"Great, that's just great," she lied. They both looked up when they heard Nicole walking down the stairs into the living room.
"Hi Tiffany. Did you see my interview at your husband's lingerie store?" Nicole asked taking a seat on the sofa.
"Skeeter is my ex-husband and yes I saw you," Tiffany said.
"Right... right. You know you should have come down to the store. Maybe Skeeter would have let them interview you."
"I didn't want to be interviewed."
"Yeah, but look what happened. Clark got a couple of parties from my interview. I have modeling agencies begging me for pictures. Just think you might have been able to find a new boyfriend or something."
"I don't need or want any help."
"Look," Clark said jumping up from the chair and walking to the TV to turn up the volume. They all looked up quickly at the TV screen and the scene at "Next to Nothing" lingerie store owned by Tiffany's ex-husband Skeeter.
The announcer pulled his coat as the wind whipped on Bleecker Street. "It's a freezing day here in the city, but that hasn't stopped the crowds of young women from lining up to get into the new lingerie store "Next to Nothing," he said. "Excuse me Miss," he said holding his microphone up to a pretty young college student. "Why are you here in the bitter cold waiting for this lingerie store to open?"
"Because everyone knows that if you get featured in one of the ads for this store you have a chance at being a centerfold for Playbody Magazine," she said smiling hopefully.
