Tiffany opened the door to the townhouse where she works and heard the loud sounds of Nicole's voice upstairs. She quietly closed the door and tiptoed to her desk hoping to hear the conversation.
"Nicole I told you I can't do that," Vinny said.
"Why the hell not? You've always had someone take care of things like this in the past," she screamed.
"Look this is different here. Alexis is not the average woman."
"So you're taken with her too? Is that it? You and Clark both have a thing for this older woman," she said slamming the desk drawer.
"No it ain't that at all."
"You sound like a man that's got the hots for her," Nicole said.
"No. I don't want to be messin' with Alexis," he said.
"You sure Vinny? You sure you aren't interested in her romantically?"
"No Nicki. You know my romantic interests are for Starlene."
"Then talk to my Father and tell him you're going to have Alexis taken care of."
"Your Father is the one that gave the orders Nicole. Look she'll be out of here. Outta' your hair."
"I hate her. I know damn well that she and Clark went to bed. He's lying to me," she said referring to catching her husband with Alexis in the townhouse when she came back from Florida.
"Look Nicole. Let's be real here. You left Clark to move down to Florida. You never wanted to come back. It wasn't until you found out that your old boyfriend was married and wouldn't see you anymore that you decided to come back. I mean even if Clark was messin' around with Alexis, you couldn't blame him."
"Whose side are you on Vinny?"
"Yours of course."
"Do you think Alexis is attractive?"
"Yeah, for an older woman she's good-looking."
"Do you think Clark likes her?"
"I think Clark loves you. I think if anything happened it was Alexis that got it going. I tell you she's got a past that's as thick as the Manhattan Yellow Pages."
"When are you going to talk to her again?"
"She's thinking over the offer your Father made her."
"Can she refuse him?"
"No. She's outta here."
"You promise I'll never see her again?"
"Never. Not unless we have some kind of regional meeting and she comes. But you know we don't do that kind of thing often. You'll never see her again."
"Do you think my Father hired her just to spite me for leaving Florida?"
"No, he hired her to work for his family organization 'cause she's an expert Nicki. The old man never lets one like her get away."
"I still don't like it. I wanted her whacked," Nicole said.
"It ain't going to happen. Not unless some things change or she messes up or something," Vinny said.
The phone rang on Tiffany's desk and she quickly picked it up.
"Manhattan Party Planning," she answered almost in a whisper.
"Tiffany. I think about what you tell me on telephone last night. I understand why you want to move to this apartment," Amir said in his broken English.
"Oh hi Amir," Tiffany said looking up to see Nicole coming down the stairs towards the living room.
"I come back to New York. We talk," her lover Amir said.
"Tiffany, how long have you been here?" Nicole asked walking to her desk ignoring the fact Tiffany was on the telephone.
