Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday May 23rd 2003
"This is a nice place you got here," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent. He pushed his chair back from the dining room table as he glanced at the crystal chandeliers above the antique table.
"Thank you," Stanley said eyeing his new son-in-law with suspicion.
"Why don't you show me around the place," Skeeter said tossing his napkin onto his empty dessert plate.
"Jan you show him around. I'm going to step outside and smoke," Stanley said wanting to escape the company of his crass handsome new son-in-law.
"Come this way Skeeter," she said as he followed her up the steps of her Father's Upper East Side mansion.
"Show me your bedroom Baby," Skeeter said watching her hips as she walked up the stairs.
"Okay, right here," she said opening the door to a tastefully decorated bedroom. Skeeter walked in glancing at the pictures of Jan and her society friends on the dresser. He pulled at the fabric on the canopy of her bed and smiled "You ever do it in this bed?"
"No, of course not. Father's bedroom is right next door," she said grinning as she watched him lean back on her bed. He placed his arms above his head and his shirt opened slightly revealing his masculine chest.
"I think we should spend the night here tonight," Skeeter said.
"I don't think so," Jan said eyeing the hair on his chest.
"I want to. We're married now. I want to sleep in your Daddy's house with you," he said sitting up on the bed.
"Come on" Jan said as heard her Father's footsteps coming towards her bedroom.
"Hey Stanley how was your smoke?" Skeeter asked walking towards the doorway to stand next to Jan.
"I'm trying to quit but it seems something is always upsetting me," Stanley said.
"Father, Skeeter and I are spending the night here," Jan said.
"Yes, I think it would be fun. I mean I'm married now and it will make me feel like we're family," Jan said smiling at Skeeter.
"Whatever," Stanley said in disgust as he walked towards his bedroom next door.
"Is that all you have to say?" Jan asked.
"I'm tired, goodnight," Stanley said wondering if he still had a pack of cigarettes in his desk drawer as he closed his bedroom door behind him.
Jan closed her bedroom door and turned to glance at Skeeter to see he was already undressing.
"You're that tired?" she asked kicking off her high heels and reaching to turn off the light switch on the wall.
"Just eager Baby," he said as his jeans fell to the floor. He smiled as pulled her towards him.
"I want to see what it's like to be Stanley Morgan's son-in-law," he said putting his arms around her.
"Skeeter," she whispered as he unzipped her designer skirt and it fell to the floor.
"I'm part of the Morgan family now Baby," he said sitting on the side of her bed and pulling her towards him.
"But Father's bedroom's right next door Skeeter," she whispered.
"We're married," Skeeter said not wasting anytime for fear her Father might fall asleep fast.
Stanley turned off the lamp next to his bed feeling proud that he'd fought the temptation of the cigarettes he'd found in his desk drawer. He suddenly heard a noise from Jan's bedroom next door as her bed hit the wall next to his bed. Stanley pulled the cover up over his head. The tapping on the wall became louder and more rhythmic. Stanley reached over and turned on the lamp beside his bed. He got out of his bed and walked to his desk taking the cigarettes from the drawer and placing them on the nightstand. He glanced towards the Morgan family emblem hanging on his bedroom wall as it shook from the vibrations. He lit a cigarette and took a long drag.
