Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday March 5th 2003
Tiffany and Starlene sat in the living room of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. Their eyes were fixed on the television screen as they watched Tiffany's lover Amir being interviewed on TV at his island home abroad.
"Mr. Hada do the police think the body of the woman they found is your wife?" the reporter asked.
"Oh my God she's dead," Starlene whispered.
"Shhh!" Tiffany said reaching for the remote and turning up the sound on the television set.
"This I do not know," Amir said in his broken English.
"If this is your wife, do they have any leads as to who might have done such a terrible thing?"
"Only how you say… speculation."
"Do the police think it was a member of an extremist group as they reported earlier?"
"That's all for today," Amir's lawyer said, taking Amir's arm and turning to walk back towards his mansion.
"And now for the other celebrity news," the reporter said as the screen was filled with the image of the hills of Hollywood.
"Poor Amir," Tiffany said leaning back in the chair exhausted from the excitement.
"Lucky Tiffany if it's true," Starlene said taking a sip of her Diet Coke.
"That's a horrible thing to say."
"It won't be so horrible if you can have him all to yourself, now will it?"
"No, but I didn't want him this way Starlene. I never wanted his poor wife to be dead."
"Just think if she is dead then you can marry him."
"It's way too soon to think about that."
"I don't know Tiffany. Wow you're really in a great position. Just think you could accept Jan's offer to sign the divorce papers so she could marry Skeeter. Then you could marry Amir and Skeeter would be married to Jan."
"That would certainly show Skeeter a thing or two wouldn't it?" Tiffany said regaining her sense of humor.
"It would show Jan a thing or three. She'd be furious if you marry a rich man and she marries Skeeter the lingerie salesman."
"Skeeter would suffer too," Tiffany said smiling.
"That's right. This is all looking pretty good for you," Starlene said thinking how her sister could end up being a real celebrity.
"After four years of this, maybe it could," Tiffany admitted.
"Then I'll be married to Stanley and we'll be the wealthiest women in New York City," Starlene said fluffing the back of her long blonde hair up with her hand and pushing her voluptuous chest forward as she struck a pose.
"It's a long way from Lillard Georgia, isn't it Starlene?" Tiffany said smiling.
"I'd say, honey child," Starlene said in her deep southern accent.
Tiffany's cell phone rang and she quickly took it from her purse to answer the call. "Hello," she said.
"Thanks to God you are there and I talk to you," Amir said in his broken English.
"Amir! Starlene and I just saw you on television. Is it true what they said about your wife?" Tiffany said clutching the tiny cell phone.
