La Boheme Opened December 8th 2002

Music is by Giacomo Puccini; Librettists: Guiseppe Giacosa, and Luigi Illica; From "Scenes de la vie de Boheme" by Henri Murger; Directed by Baz Luhrmann ("Moulin Rouge"); Alternating in the role of "Mimi", are Lisa Hopkins, Wei Huang, and Ekaterina Solovyeva; alternating in the role of "Rodolfo" are Alfred Boe, Jesus Garcia, and David Miller; Settings: Catherine Martin ("Moulin Rouge"); Costumes: Martin and Agnes Strathie; Lighting: Nigel Levings; Sound by Acme Sound Partners (Tom Clark, Mark Menard, amd Nevin Steinberg); Constantine Kitsopoulis is the Musical Director; Mr. Luhrmann's production of "La Boheme" first premiered at the Sydney Opera House in 1990; Set in the 1950's it will be sung in Italian with English surtitles; Luhrmann's first in the USA.

Les Miserables Opened March 12th 1987 through May 18th 2003
Imperial Theater, Tickets 249 W. 45th St. between Broadway & 8th Ave; $20-$90. Mon-Sat 8 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM; 3 Hours. One intermission. Geffen cast album. Musical adaptation of Victor Hugo novel about persecuted Jean Valjean. J. Mark McVey is current Valjean, Javert is Philip Hernandez & Fantine is played by Jacquelyn Piro.

The Lion King

Adaptation from animated screen. Cast of 46 sings the Elton John - Tim Rice score. Simba the lion cub destined to become king. Garth Fagan - Choreographer.

Long Day's Journey Into Night Opens May 6th 2003
Theatre TBA, A Classic play by Eugene O'Neill is brought to you by David Richenthal and Max Cooper. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" is directed by Robert Falls. Starring Bryan Dennehy as James Tyrone, Vanessa Redgrave as Mary, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Jamie, and Robert Sean Leonard as Edmund. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" originally premiered in Stockholm Sweden on February 10th 1956. The American Premiere opened at the original Helen Hayes Theatre on W. 46th Street on November 7th 1956. Settings and Costumes: Santo Loquasto; Lighting: Brian MacDevitt.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Opens February 6th 2000-June 29th 2003
Royale Theater, Tickets 242 West 45th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue; $50-$80; Tue 7 PM; Wed-Sat 8 PM; Sun 3 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM;  Starring Whoopi Goldberg and Charles S. Dutton. This 1984 play revival by August Wilson is directed by Marion McClinton. It is about the exploitation of black musicians by white producers.  Settings by David Gallo. Costumes by Toni-Leslie James. Sound: Rob Milburn; Lighting: Donald Holder. "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" originally opened Oct. 11th '84 at the Cort Theatre with Charles S. Dutton, and Theresa Merritt, among others.

Mamma Mia Opened October 18th 2001
Winter Garden Theatre, Tickets 1634 Broadway at 50th Street. $55.00-$98.75. Mon-Sat 8 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM; Mamma Mia opened at London's Prince Edward Theatre in April, 1999 and was a fantastic hit that has broken every known British box office record and continues to sell out. The group ABBA has sold over 350 million records worldwide. Mamma Mia includes the hit "Money, Money, Money".  Featuring Louise Pitre as Donna Sheridan, a single mother running a tavern on a fictional Greek island. Her friends, Rosie and Tanya are played by Judy Kaye and Karen Mason. They will all get together for the wedding of Donna's daughter, Sophie played by Tina Maddigan. Tina and Louise are making their Broadway debuts. Also featuring, Joe Machota, David Keeley, Ken Marks, Dean Nolen, Tonya Doran, Sara Inbar, Mark Price, and Michael B. Washington. A musical love story based on the music of ABBA. Produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East & Bjorn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal. Music-Lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Playwright Catherine Johnson. Director Phyllida Lloyd. Choreographer Anthony Van Laast.

Man of La Mancha Opened December 5th 2002

Choreographer is Luis Perez; Music by Mitch Leigh; Musical Director: Robert Billig; Lyrics by Joe Darion; Also featuring Mark Jacoby, Stephen Bogardus, Don Mayo, Bradley Dean, Natascia Diaz, Olga Merediz, Frederick B. Owens, Jamie Torcellini, Timothy J. Alex, Andy Blankenbuehler, John Herrera, Jamie Karen, Lorin Latarro, Carlos Lopez, Wilson Mendieta, Gregory Mitchell, Richard Montoya, Michelle Rios, Thom Sesma, Jimmy Smagula, Dennis Stowe, and Allyson Tucker. "Man of La Mancha" originally opened in November 1965 at the ANTA Washington Square Theater.

Medea December 10th 2002 - February 22nd 2003
Brooks Atkinson Theatre, 256 West 47th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. 212-307-4100. $60-$80. Mon through Sat Evenings, and Saturday Matinees only; This new, modern and sophisticated version of the original "Medea" by Euripides, is written by Deborah Warner. "Medea" stars Fiona Shaw in the title role and performs the tragic heroine role superbly. With Jonathan Cake, Derek Hutchinson, Joseph Mydell, Struan Rodger, Siobhan McCarthy, Robin Laing, Kirsten Campbell, Joyce Henderson, Rachel Isaac, Pauline Lynch, and Susan Salmon. Costumes by Jacqueline Durran; Settings by Tom Pye; Lighting: Peter Mumford; Sound: Mel Mercier. Translation by Kenneth McLeish and Frederic Raphael.

Metamorphoses Opened March 4th 2002; Closed February 16th 2003
Circle in the Square Theatre, Tickets 1633 Broadway at 50th Street. $30-$75; Tue-Sat 8 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM; Sun 3 PM; This play by Mary Zimmerman, director, transforms the stage into a 30 foot wide pool of water in which classic Roman myths come to life. King Midas, Narcissus and his reflection, Orpheus, and Euridice. With Anjali Bhimani, Raymond Fox, Kyle Hall, Doug Hara, Felicity Jones, Chris Kipiniak, Louise Lamson, Erik Lochtefeld, Mariann Mayberry and Lisa Tejero. Original Music by Willy Schwarz. 2002 Tony Award : Best Direction of a Play (Mary Zimmerman).

The Miracle Worker
CANCELLED Previews April 8th 2003; Opens April 24th 2003
Music Box Theatre, Tickets 239 West 45th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. $60-$80; Tue-Sat 8 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM; Sun 3 PM; "The Miracle Worker" features Hilary Swank as "Annie Sullivan" in this 1959 play by William Gibson. With Skye McCole Bartusiak as "Helen Keller", Stephen Markle, Mireille Enos, Jefrey Carlson, Alexander Mitchell, Roberta Maxwell, and Chandra Wilson. "The Miracle Worker" had originally opened on October 15th 1959 at the Playhouse which had featured Anne Bancroft, Patty Duke, Patricia Neal, and Beah Richards. This current version of "The Miracle Worker" is directed by: Marianne Elliot; The Settings and Costumes: Lez Brotherston; The Lighting: Paul Gallo; and The Sound: Scott Meyers.
