Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday December 11th 2002
Tiffany opened the door to the townhouse where she had been employed four years.  Her boss Clark had fired her yesterday and called her at home last night asking her to come back so they could talk it over.
"Morning Tiffany," Clark said as he walked from the kitchen towards the front door holding a mug of steaming coffee.
"Morning' Clark," she said never smiling as she closed the door and started taking off her coat.
"Would you like for me to order breakfast for you?" he asked smiling. He had been totally unprepared for the pressure Nicole had put on him when she found out he had fired Tiffany.  He thought she would be pleased, but instead had threatened to leave him if he didn't reinstate Tiffany.
"No. Thanks," she said unaccustomed to this special treatment.
"Have a seat and we can straighten this misunderstanding out, I'm sure.  I'll get you some coffee," he said putting his mug on the coffee table and walking back towards the kitchen.  Tiffany took a seat on the sofa instead of walking to her desk in the living room where she usually worked.
"Here you go," he said walking into the living room and putting the hot mug on the coffee table in front of Tiffany.  He took a seat in the chair next to the sofa and smiled at her as if he'd never seen her before.
"Well, thanks for coming in today," he said picking a piece of lint from his trousers.
"Clark let's just get this over with. You fired me.  Why did you want me to come back today?"
"I was wrong."
"No really.  I talked it over with Nicole and I was wrong."
"Nicole doesn't like me. Why do you say that?"
"You're wrong about that Tiffany.  It was Nicole that asked me to apologize to you"
"I wonder why?" Tiffany said thinking about the fact that she knew Nicole was secretly seeing the handsome young guy next door.
"Nicole really does like you.  She said she just gets overwhelmed sometimes with so much going on."
"Oh is that what she said?" Tiffany asked thinking about all the affairs Nicole's had with other men.
"Well, that's not enough for me.  I've gotten tired of being treated like this."
"I'm truly sorry Tiffany."
"Well, that's just not enough.  I think most of this is Nicole's fault."
"She said that she thought you might feel that way.  She didn't hear you come in. Just a minute I'll go get her," he said jumping up and hurrying towards the stairs afraid that Tiffany might just leave before he reinstated her.
"Nicki!" he called out standing at the bottom of the stairs.
"What?" she screamed angrily from the bedroom upstairs.
"Tiffany's here honey."
"Oh, okay.  I'll be right there.  Tell her to wait," Nicole yelled.
"See?  See what I told you she really wants to get everything straightened out with you," he said as Nicole came rushing down the stairs her sheer robe fanning around her feet and a towel wrapped around her wet hair.
"Tiffany, hi," Nicole said smiling as she noticed the grim look on Tiffany's face.  She realized that Tiffany might just be fed up with the work environment and keeping her secrets from Clark.
"Want some coffee Nicki?" Clark asked glancing at his young wife's sheer robe. He reminisced about a few months ago before they were married and the feel of her firm young body.
"Yes, why don't you run over to Starbucks and get us some coffee."
"I have some coffee made in the kitchen honey," he said watching her take a seat on the sofa next to Tiffany.
"Bring us some Danish too and hurry," she said waving the back of her hand at him.
