Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday December 10th 2002
"Tiffany are you home?"  Starlene called out as she slammed the door of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park.
"In here," Tiffany said as she picked up the remote to the TV and turned down the volume.
Starlene took off her pink fur jacket and hung it on the rack beside the front door.  She walked towards the living room and saw her sister stretched out on the sofa in her pajamas.
"How was your dinner with Stanley?" Tiffany asked.
"Great. We ate at this new restaurant in Times Square.  I wanted to pin him down about setting the wedding date. But this big time business investor came over and sat down with us, so I didn't get to pressure him," she said taking a seat in a nearby chair in the living room.
"Just as well Starlene.  I don't know why you want to get married so badly anyway," Tiffany said sitting up to take a sip of her Diet Coke.
"That's easy for you to say, you've been married before."
"And look what happened too," she said disgusted as she thought about her estranged husband Skeeter.
"Oh, they aren't all like Skeeter."
"No, probably worse."
"You're really sour right now.  You'll be better when the right one comes along again."
"Mr. Right called tonight."
"Amir called you?" Starlene asked referring to Tiffany's wealthy married lover.
"Yeah, the FBI and the police are still looking for his wife."
"Are you going to see him?" Starlene asked bending over to take off her high-heeled shoes.
"No.  I don't think so.  I mean he's nervous about all of the authorities snooping around. We can't see each other now.  We probably will never see each other again."
"Oh that's not true.  You're just upset over getting fired today."
"Clark called too," Tiffany said referring to her boss that had fired her earlier today.
"Get out of here! What did he want?"
"He wanted me to come by the office."
"For your severance pay?"
"No. He said he wanted to talk to me."
"Oh really?  Did you go by there?"
"No. I told him I was busy.  He asked me to come in tomorrow morning."
"What did you say?"
"I told him that I was fired and didn't know why he'd want me to do that."
"And what did he say?" Starlene asked waving her hands for Tiffany to hurry up and tell her the whole story.
"He said that he and his
wife had been talking and that he thought he'd acted hastily."
"Oh how funny. I told you he'd regret getting mad at you."
"Well, I don't think any of it's funny. I told Amir about it and he said I didn't have to pay the rent on this apartment anymore. He said he'd call his real estate agent and take care of that right away."
"Wonderful! There you go.  Now you can stay home and have a life just like mine," Starlene said smiling as she leaned back in the chair.
"No.  I'm afraid the police will find out that Amir owns this apartment or something.  That would really look bad."
"What do you care?  You can't get fired now!" Starlene said.
"I told Clark I'd come by in the morning and talk to him.  I told him that we had to get things straightened out with Nicole too.  I might tell him about Nicole's affair with that guy Greg," Tiffany said referring to Nicole's affair with the handsome young neighbor while her husband Clark was in Florida.
"I can't wait until tomorrow," Starlene said.
