Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday August 21st 2002
Skeeter slammed his apartment door closed and walked towards the fan turning it on.  The heat that had been building in his Bleecker Street apartment over the summer matched the heat of his rage.  He walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door taking out a cold beer. He popped the top on the can and walked into the living room taking a seat on the futon sofa. He thought about his confrontation with Tiffany at her apartment door a few minutes ago.  She had told him that Amir's bodyguard was on the way up to the apartment when they heard the sounds of the elevator.  He wasn't afraid of the bodyguard but he didn't want to spend another week in jail.  He knew if he stayed Amir would have been hurt and the police would have been called. Still, it wasn't fair that his wife was with that rich foreigner and the foreigner's wife was missing.  How dare Amir go on TV and pretend to be upset over his missing wife then go to Tiffany's apartment and spend the day. He remembered how she looked in the sheer robe she was wearing when she answered the door. She had been expecting the deliveryman from a nearby restaurant.  He took another sip of his beer as he contemplated going back to Tiffany's apartment.  The phone on the coffee table rang interrupting his thoughts.
"Yeah," he snapped into the phone.
"Nicole.  I didn't think I'd be hearing from you anytime soon," he said feeling warm all over as he remembered a few days ago when she had been in his bedroom.
"I knew you would be surprised to hear from me," she laughed.
"Did you get married to Clark?" he asked wondering if she had gone through with the plans to go to Florida and get married on her father's yacht.
"Of course.  I'm Mrs. Masters now," she said glancing down at her hand with the big diamond and matching wedding band.
"Yeah. So you did it after all?"
"Yeah. My Father wouldn't let me change my mind," she said laughing as she thought about how happy her father was that she had married Clark.  "You don't tell a man like my father no," she said referring to the fact that her father was a crime boss in Florida.
"Did you have the wedding on your old man's yacht like you planned?"
"Yeah.  It was really pretty."
"Going to show me the wedding pictures."
"Yeah.  When I get back."
"Where are you now on your honeymoon?"
"Yeah.  We're in Italy.  Clark's with the family.  I finally got away a little while.  I'm sick of this already.  I want to come back to New York and have some fun."
"Nicole, you mean you aren't having fun on your honeymoon?" he asked laughing.
"Same old thing.  I've spent enough time in Italy when I was a child.  I've had enough of Florida and my father too."
"What about your husband.  You had enough of him already?"
"He's okay.  You know me.  I need a lot to keep me going," she said remembering a few days ago and the passion she and Skeeter had shared before she left to go to Florida for her wedding.
"You shouldn't have married him."
"Too late now.  What's the matter with you Skeeter?  You sound down and out?" she said noticing the tone in his voice. "You still going to see me when I get back to New York aren't you?" she asked hoping to see him soon.
"Yeah.  It's just Tiffany and that damn Amir guy," he said crushing his empty beer can in the center and tossing it across the floor of his apartment.
"What do you mean?"
"I went over there to talk over some financial matters with her," he lied.
"She had that rich foreigner there with her in the apartment."
"I thought his wife was missing."
"She is.  That's what makes me so mad.  His wife is missing so he takes up with mine and goes on TV acting like he's all upset."
"Well, if he's not upset then he will be soon." she said knowingly.
"What do you mean?" he asked holding the phone close to his ear with renewed interest in her family connections.
