"Excuse me I'm going to find the little girl's room", Starlene said pushing her chair back from the dinner table in Arqua Restaurant. She wanted to be sure she had on enough lip-gloss before meeting Stanley's daughter Jan. She glanced towards the front of Arqua Restaurant and watched Jan handing the hostess her full-length mink coat.
"You wanna go with me Tiffany?" Starlene asked her older sister that had barely said a word to her since she arrived at the party.
"No," Tiffany said looking with disgust at the black leather pants and tiny sequined halter top that her younger sister was wearing tonight. She made a mental note that if she ever invited Starlene to another office function of hers she would be sure and pick out her clothes for her.
"You hurry back honey," Stanley Morgan said watching Starlene's voluptuous young figure almost burst out of the halter-top when she bent over to pick up her purse. He hadn't been this aroused since the first time he met Laney, which reminded him that he was here tonight for Laney's going away party. Laney was becoming a movie star after he landed her a job in Playbody Magazine. He might be getting old, but he still knew how to pick the winners, he thought, as he took another swallow of his martini.
"Jan, how are you this evening?" Clark said hugging the well-dressed thirty something daughter of Stanley as she made her way towards the table.
"Wonderful Clark thanks", Jan said smiling broadly as she glanced around the table and saw Tiffany watching her. She knew Tiffany was still angry about the remarks she had made when she stopped by Clark's office this afternoon while he was out. If she kept dropping hints about her relationship with Skeeter, Tiffany would soon get so mad she would divorce him.
"You look radiant this evening darling," Stanley said watching his daughter in her off white Chanel suit as she took a seat beside Clark.
"Thanks Father I got a little more exercise than usual today," she said smiling and holding up her hand for the waiter to bring her a drink.
"Exercise? I've never known you to exercise." Stanley said raising his eyebrows in curiosity.
"About the same kind you get Father. The kind that puts the glow on your cheeks," she said watching the waiter rush towards their table.
"We all know what that means!" Stanley said laughing and putting his arm around Tiffany's shoulder pulling her closer to him.
Tiffany could feel her face redden. She quickly searched their faces hoping that they didn't know that Stanley had cornered her many times making unwanted advances.
"Bring a bottle of the best champagne", Jan told the waiter.
"In a celebrating mood tonight?" Clark asked.
"Sure Laney's leaving," Jan said.
"Now Jan you said you'd be nice to her tonight," Stanley said frowning at his daughter.
"Of course Father. I'll be cordial. After all it's not that important one way or the other," she said relieved that her Father's young Playbody model girlfriend was leaving for California.
"You might have to cheer your Father up after she leaves Jan. He's going to be lonely," Clark said hoping to soothe the tension between the two of them.
The waiter came to the table and opened the bottle of champagne. Tiffany felt Stanley's hand touch her knee and she glanced up to be sure that no one at the table had noticed. All eyes were glued to the back of the restaurant.
"I'm back!" Starlene said a little too loudly from the Martinis in her southern accent. She approached the table in her high heels wobbling slightly. "Just had to freshin' up a little. Use the powder room. Oh, you must be J-a-n! I've heard so much about you," she said bending forward to put her sequined purse on the table as all eyes monitored the strain on the tiny sequined halter against her protruding bosom.
"Jan this is Starlene," Stanley said as his eyes caught a glimpse of her navel above the tight black leather pants before she took her seat beside him.
"Yes. I see this has to be Tiffany's sister", Jan said laughing slightly as she turned towards Tiffany and looked at her from the tip of her nose.
